As we use flower essences, we develop increasing self-awareness and insight into what makes us tick. We begin to understand deeper motives and deeper aspects of our character. As the emotional broken glass of life gently dissolves, we can take a fresh look at life's journey and experiences. Flower essences support us during the processing and evaluation of these experiences. They dissolve the emotional sting of an acute situation, and allow us to heal recent or longstanding attitudes.
Flower essences are tools of transformation, catalysts for change that enable us to get in touch with our inner being and recognise the true nature of the issues, events and relationships of life. In a word, they help us heal ourselves.
Each of us has his or her own particular make-up or personality type. This is partly personal, partly family-determined, partly genetic and partly racial. Each aspect is coloured by the tones and hues that comprise our personality - many different aspects and components of our essential nature, if you like. All of these factors are issues that face us during our journey through life, some major, some minor, some pressing and urgent, some subtle but crucial.
We each choose whether we wish to face these issues and transcend them, or ignore them. If we face them with optimism, listening to our intuitive guidance, the issue is processed painlessly. Experience is acquired and wisdom is gained. If we ignore the subtle hints, we are given further opportunities to learn. If we still persist in avoiding the issue, then the hints become blatantly obvious.
Imagine you are a workaholic. Nothing wrong with that. It is a conscious choice you have made. Deep within you there is a gentle feeling that all is not well. You ignore it, not recognising its origin. Anyway, you're too busy. The subtle feeling becomes a little stronger, a vague feeling of discontent or that something is not quite right. Again you choose to ignore it. Next, the messages from the universe! God-force/higher self (call it what you will) come via your work colleagues. Aren't you working rather hard? Don't you think you should take a day off?' You ignore it. You look as though you need a holiday,' is the next level of message.
The messages begin to be even more forceful. Are you sure the job's worth it?' After all, not a lot of people retire, give a sigh of relief and say I wish I'd spent more time at the office!' What happens next is a minor illness. You work through it. So you have to be sent another hint - influenza this time. If you still ignore the messages one of two thing happen. If you're lucky you get the sack. If you're unlucky you get rut over by a bus. Get the message now? Slow down! Be kind to yourself!
By the time the bus hits you, it is probably too late to use the flower remedies to help resolve the original issue. Events have taken hold of you! However, using the correct essences earlier in the process is a powerful way of catalysing change. The essences provide a supportive framework whilst the healing process takes place within your consciousness. This emotional healing process is our old friend from earlier in the book.
