Learning to dowse

Dowsing is merely a means of accessing intuition. It involves using an external indicator such as a hazel twig (hazel is flexible), a pair of rods or a pendulum to indicate a response to a question. Essentially the only possible answers are Yes, No or Maybe.

Maybe, otherwise known by the technical name of **!!???**, happens when the answer is neither Yes nor No. It can also indicate an inappropriate question, or an area about which you are not permitted to ask, for example, 'Is this horse to be the winner of the Grand National?' Such a question is for personal gain and is an abuse of the skill.

Using your intuition, with or without dowsing, seems to tap into something universal, perhaps a universal web of consciousness. From this higher perspective questions that come from the ego (such as racing results with an aim for personal gain) do not appear to wish for answers that are in accordance with the highest good of all living things. Therefore an ego-based question will attract an ego-based answer. You will probably lose the stake on your horse too!

One other point: any emotional investment in the result can unduly influence the answer. This is particularly true if you are choosing remedies for somebody else. Also, if when you are dowsing, others are close by you, it is possible for them to influence the results if they are projecting strong feelings or thoughts towards you. So make sure you are emotionally balanced and free of anticipations and pre-judgments when you dowse for essences.

Dowsing needs very accurate, well-formulated questions in order to avoid woolly or confused answers. In fact, dowsing with a pendulum is a very left-brain way of accessing a right-brain skill. Of course, it's not the pendulum that gives the answer. A pendulum is just an external indicator of how your body sub-consciously responds to a question. Examine your own feelings to a statement, perhaps 'I love you'. Are you tense, or relaxed? Now see how you feel to a statement that says the opposite. Relaxed, or perhaps a little tense? What a swinging pendulum does is to pick up the minute differences in tension in your body that relate to either positive (relaxing) or negative (tensioning) feelings.

Please note that a pendulum or any other intuitive tool should only ever be used with an honest, true and high motive. Use of intuition should come from the heart without thought of personal gain. When the intention is to use an intuitive tool for the highest good, only good can occur.
